Ashland Avenue Beautification Project
The beautification of the 2500 block of Ashland Avenue was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the community and numerous outside resources such as Parks & People, the Baltimore Community Foundation, and Civic Works. The resident led project was spearheaded by Linda Long and Cathy Vise. The group planted trees, installed flags poles, flower boxes, and decorated homes for the holidays. Members of the block club also painted doors and windows on the boards of vacant houses. Although it took a lot of hard work, Long said block club members had a lot of fun and are looking forward to doing bigger and better things in the community.
Exterior Home Repair Project
HEBCAC with funding from Empower Baltimore Management, Inc., provided $5,000 exterior home repair grants to homeowners in the Madison East End area. The grants enabled homeowners to get new doors, windows, siding, and other exterior repairs. This successful project changed the exterior appearance of 72 homes.
