“LOVE is BOLD”: AZIZA PE&CE Celebrates Their 10th Annual Fashion Show at the Hippodrome
AZIZA PE&CE had their 10th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser, STRUT X, on Saturday, March 25th at the Hippodrome Theatre. The culmination of a 200+ hour character development curriculum called Illuminate, the STRUT fashion show showcases the beauty, talent, and confidence of youth ages 12-24 in Baltimore City.
Founded by Saran Fossett in 2008, AZIZA PE&CE is “on a mission to renew the health and well-being of Black girls and LGBTQ+ youth and their communities through instilling Black history & culture, self-love, and solidarity into their souls.” AZIZA PE&CE has been a tenant of HEBCAC’s 901 N. Milton St. building since November 2022. They are upgrading their space to be able to support their youth programming, which will include enough room for a mini runway.
Each number in this year’s program followed the prompt, “Love is…” and explored the breadth and complexities of love, from “Love is powerful” to “Love is confusion” to “Love is infinite.” Filled with dance, music, and fashion, the energy in the theatre was palpable as audience members cheered and danced along with the performers. It was proof that at the end of the day, “Love wins.”
